Working in the cloud: how safe is it?

Who hasn’t dealt with receiving phishing messages or heard reports in the news  about breached digital security? How secure is “working in the cloud”? Can hackers steal data more easily now? In this blog, you will read about Microsoft’s vision and what measures they are taking to ensure the security of the Azure cloud.

Working in the cloud has become increasingly popular over the last few years and will continue to do so in years to come. It’s an ideal solution for businesses, and especially for the construction, civil engineering, mechanical and electrical, housebuilding, plant hire and equipment rental sectors. Microsoft’s Dynamics 365 Business Central in the cloud,  your ERP and data are accessible at any time, from any location and on any device. This way you can carry out your work anytime and anywhere.

Many construction companies used to believe that moving to the cloud is difficult, complex and expensive. This isn’t going to be the case in 2021. The use of cloud software in construction is therefore expected to receive a boost this year.

Concerns about (in)security in the cloud

Although many businesses already work in the Cloud, many people wonder whether working in the Cloud is really that safe. Isn’t data easier to hack now? The Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) reports that 38% of Cloud users are concerned about its security. However, a good cloud provider delivers up-to-date software, meets various security requirements and has a team of security experts. At 4PS we use the Microsoft Azure Cloud. What is Microsoft doing to ensure the security of  their Azure service?

Security measures by Microsoft:

1. Microsoft meets the highest security requirements and ISO certifications.

The security of the Microsoft Azure Cloud is tested regularly and according to international guidelines. The Azure data centre is ISO 27001/27002 certified and also has certifications for SOC 1 and SOC 2, and SSAE16 / ISAE 3402.

2. A team of cybersecurity experts is standing by

Microsoft has a team of more than 3,500 cyber security experts ready to help protect your data.

3. High security data centres

Cloud providers and data centres specialise in managing cloud solutions. They have levels of security that businesses would struggle to put in place in their own on-premise environments. Microsoft pays close attention to the physical security of their data centres.  Their premises are closely guarded by security staff, servers are protected by security systems, integrated alarm systems and 24/7 video surveillance from the operations centre.

4. 99.9% availability

You also don’t need to worry about downtime as Microsoft guarantees availability of 99.9%.

Business Central in the Cloud allows your users to access the system and data from any location and on any device. This way, you can carry out your work anytime and anywhere. All of our Cloud solutions at 4PS are provided on Microsoft’s Azure platform, giving you complete peace of mind over any security concerns meeting the highest security requirements and ISO certifications.
