Celebrating International Women's Day and Embracing Equity

International Women’s Day (IWD) is a global day that celebrates women’s social, economic, cultural, and political achievements. The importance of IWD cannot be overstated. It’s a day to recognise and celebrate the progress that has been made towards gender equality and to acknowledge the challenges that still exist.

We are delighted to support International Women’s Day today – 8 March 2023.

This year’s theme is #EmbraceEquity. Embracing equity means recognising that everyone deserves to be treated fairly, regardless of their gender, race, religion, sexuality, or any other characteristic. It means actively working to break down barriers and create a level playing field for all.  It is about recognising that people have different needs and experiences and working to ensure that everyone has access to the resources and opportunities they need to succeed.

At 4PS, we believe that equality is essential for the growth and development of individuals, communities, and societies. We are committed to promoting gender equality and empowering our employees, and we believe everyone has a role to play. One reason supporting IWD is so important to us is that, even after all the work that has been done to date, women continue to face significant barriers in the workplace. Despite making up nearly half of the global workforce, women are often paid less than men, are underrepresented in leadership positions and face discrimination and harassment. There is still a continuing need worldwide for more progressive mindsets and inclusive behaviours to be forged. Gender-based discrimination and inequality persist in many parts of the world. By developing more progressive attitudes and inclusive behaviours, we can work towards a world where everyone has equal rights and opportunities, regardless of gender.

However, it’s important to note that supporting women is not just a women’s issue. Gender inequality affects everyone and working towards a more equitable world is in everyone’s best interest. Each of us can play a role in forging gender parity by challenging gender stereotypes and biases, and this means not only supporting women but also embracing equity for all employees. At 4PS, we want to continue to create a workplace culture that values diversity and inclusivity.

To fully embrace equity requires a commitment to ongoing education, reflection, and action, which we can all strive for in our personal and professional lives. We must listen to and learn from those whose experiences and perspectives differ from our own. We must challenge our biases and prejudices and create inclusive environments where everyone feels welcome and valued.

Achieving equity is a collective effort. By supporting IWD, we can all help to raise awareness of issues and advocate for change, contributing to the creation of a more just and equitable world for all – and that’s what we’re striving to achieve at 4PS!
