Building a Stronger Future: The Young in 4PS Initiative

Towards the end of 2022 we began the ‘Young in 4PS’ initiative. Following the lead of Directions 4 Partners ‘Young in Dynamics’ the aim of the group is to improve the recruitment, retention, and development of young people within 4PS UK.

Directions 4 Partners host the incredibly popular event Directions EMEA which sees Microsoft Dynamics 365 partners from across Europe, come together to share knowledge and learn all about the latest innovations in the Dynamics 365 Business Central platform. This year the conference was held in Hamburg, and as part of a special offer to engage with young talent, two of our Support Consultants Greta and Neelesh were given the opportunity to attend. Following on from their visit, they both shared some insights from the event and talked about being part of the young Dynamics community.

Our Young in 4PS meetings have been a great place to share our experiences, expectations and vision for how 4PS can be a great place to start, nurture and develop a young person’s career.

We’re focusing on how 4PS can better support the specific needs of those who are not only new to the ERP world, but the world of business as a whole. We recognise that those under 30 have unique experiences and challenges and starting life in a software company can be a daunting prospect. Our goal is to de-mystify the world of technology and software, making it appear a fantastic space for graduates and young people to be a part of.

So far, we’ve made recommendations to the 4PS management team on how to improve the on-boarding process for new starters. This includes a ‘buddy’ system, a central hub to track the progress of onboarding tasks, new ‘business 101’ training programs and how new starters can contribute towards training materials for the next generation of ‘young’ employees. All of these recommendations have been well received and are being put into action.

Our next focus is on the recruitment process and how to make junior roles at 4PS appealing to university graduates and young people looking to start their career in tech. We’re also working on how we can attract more young women to the 4PS and what perceptions we might need to change about the industry. This will form part of our wider efforts to make 4PS a more diverse and inclusive workplace and roles at 4PS accessible to everyone.

After this, our attention will shift to the development of young careers and how 4PS can be the perfect environment for growth and progression.

We’re all very happy about the positive change this initiative can bring for current young 4PS employees and new starters who join the team, and we will share more updates from the Young in 4PS team over the coming year.
